Covid-19: almost 45,000 people received booster vaccine this weekend in Portugal | Coronavirus
Almost 45,000 people aged 65 and over received, today and Saturday, a booster dose of the vaccine against covid-19 in Portugal, bringing it to more than half a million as administered doses, announced the Directorate-General for Health.
“In order to speed up the vaccination process, the country’s Vaccination Centers were open over the weekend, with a greater turnout being recorded on Saturday. Over the two days, at least 68,700 flu vaccines and 44,700 booster doses of the covid-19 vaccine (complete data only at the end of the day) were administered to users aged 65 and over ”, said the Directorate-General of the Health (DGS) in a statement released today.
Also according to the DGS, “Portugal has already administered more than half a million booster and additional doses of the vaccine against covid-19 and more than one million and one hundred thousand vaccines against the flu.”
Since October 18, the co-administration of colic vaccines and the third dose of covid-19 vaccine has been underway, which includes elderly people aged 65 years and over and in a situation of immunosuppression.
The “open house” modality for people aged 80 and over, which worked this weekend to speed up the vaccination process against covid-19 and flu, “is maintained for a week”.
The DGS advises users, before going to the vaccination center in their area of residence, to consult the respective opening hours this page.
In addition to the “open house” modality, “local scheduling is also available for eligible users, with priority being given to older people and gradually covering younger age groups, until reaching 65 years”.
The call for taking flu vaccines and against covid-19, at the same time, or just for the flu vaccine, recalls the DGS, continues to be made via SMS.
The DGS also recalls that self-scheduling of vaccines is also available for people over 70 years of age, and that this can be done connected.
