Driver exceptional transport with too high load … (Antwerp)
An exceptional transport with a high load entered the Waaslandtunnel on Friday. The traffic police protected the driver at the exit of the tunnel against and posted situations. In total, 1,300 euros in fines were collected.
“On Friday we saw how an exceptional transport, loaded with trucks, had entered the Waaslandtunnel on the Left Bank,” explains police spokesman Wouteryns. “The load was too high and it rubbed against the ceiling of the tunnel.”
At the exit of the tunnel is the combination of the traffic police for control. They established the following violations: the implementation of the tonnage limitation in the Waasland tunnel, the implementation of its belt, the travel route of the exceptional transport was not explored in advance and the vehicle did not have a valid permit for this type of load.
“More than 1,300 euros in fines have been collected,” says Bruyns. “The transport could be continued once all violations were regularized.”
Tunnel not damaged
The police checked the tunnel but did not damage it. That couldn’t be said of the cargo. “The new tractors damaged the exhaust at the top at the rear of the cab,” says Bruyns.
