Toulouse. Installation of the road bridge over the Toulouse – Sète railway line

From November 11 to 14, the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council will continue the work to remove level crossing 196 on the RD 79, with the installation of the road bridge over the Toulouse-Sète railway line, in the town from Escalquens. This operation will take place on Thursday 11 November between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Level crossing No. 196, the removal of which is classified as a priority, is located at the intersection of the RD 79 with the Toulouse – Sète railway line. The project consists of creating a new track with an overhead passage 300 meters long and 12.50 meters wide, between the RD 79 and the RD 16, which crosses the railway line. This new road bridge, which will weigh 300 tonnes, will be located approximately 100 meters north of the current level crossing.
A total disruption of train traffic from November 11 to 14.
Throughout the duration of this work, which is carried out day and night, without interruption, there will be no restriction on traffic on public roads.
Preparatory and finishing work will also take place from November 9 to 10, as well as from November 17 to 19, 2021, only at night.
The work to remove the level crossing represents a budget of 11.2 million euros, of which the co-financing is provided by SNCF at 50%, the Department at 20%, the Occitanie Region at 15%, Sicoval at 10% and the municipality of Escalquens at 5%.
The Departmental Council is responsible for the project and the project management. The commissioning of the bridge is scheduled for July 2022.
