Plevris: 350 beds from private clinics in Northern Greece and Thessaly
Despite the pressure on the health system, the situation is manageable, said the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, assuring that there is full cooperation with the private sector in areas that are under pressure, such as Northern Greece and the Thessaly.
Speaking to SKAI TV, Mr. Plevris said that at the moment, 150 single beds are provided by individuals in Thessaly for COVID incidents, while another 200 beds are provided in Thessaloniki. As he said, in the whole territory more than 180 existing ICU beds and more than 2,000 single beds.
The Minister of Health stated that personnel are being transferred to the congested areas from areas that are not under pressure. He pointed out that 203 ICU beds of the private sector are located in the NSS, emphasizing that the remaining ICU beds of the private sector are occupied.
Inspection if the gaps are not filled
Regarding the possibility of recruiting doctors, he said that if within a week they have not voluntarily accepted the invitation and the positions are not filled, there will be a demand for services for areas that are under pressure.
As he said, because specific specialties of doctors are missing from the NSS, an invitation has been sent to enter the system. He pointed out that there will be a discussion with the medical associations.
Mr. Plevris noted that in case there is no response, there will be a request for services, however, expressing the hope that such a thing will not happen.
According to Mr. Plevris, the planning of the Ministry of Health envisages the conversion of smaller hospitals in Thessaloniki into COVID. In cooperation with the private sector, scheduled surgeries will be limited to state-funded surgeries in private facilities in order to secure more beds.
There is no question of lockdown
For the schools, the Minister of Health stated that they will remain open. As he mentioned, the protocol in schools works exemplary.
Mr. Plevris also provided assurances that there is no question Curfew. He further stated that their philosophy meters is in the direction of vaccine protection. “The philosophy of the measures will not change,” he said, adding that the freedoms of those vaccinated would not be restricted.
Kerameos: No discussion about closing schools
There is no absolutely no discussion for suspension schools, assured the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos.
Speaking on the Max FM radio station, the Minister of Education expressed her gratitude to the educational community for the observance of the measures for the coronavirus. As he mentioned, only six sections are closed, out of a total of about 80,000.
The Minister of Education stated that the percentage of sick children in the general population decreased from 29% to 25%.
Three axes
Despite the outbreak of the cases and the new record set yesterday with 7,335 new infections, in government they are very restrained and in no case will you see hasty decisions. The Prime Minister himself speaking yesterday to representatives of the institutions trade and focus, with whom he had a meeting in Maximou, reiterated that “the economy and society will not close again” and “the vaccinated will not be deprived of their freedoms”, insisting on the “line” that there should be no new lockdown and the opposite interventions should not vaccinated.
As he writes in Today’s issue of “K”, there are three axes on which the government is moving to limit and address this wave pandemic: first is the implementation of measures. Greece has currently taken more measures than other European countries, but the issue is that it is not implemented. The premiere of the new measures last weekend was accompanied by scanning checks, which reached 90,882, while 594 violations were confirmed. Strictness to continue, if not to intensify, as it brings to some extent a double result: on the one hand the measures are observed in the shops, on the other hand they are pressured unvaccinated, who see in practice how the circle is narrowing.
In this way, the second main, if not the main, goal of the government is supported, which is to increase the vaccination. In the last week there has been a more than doubling of the appointments for the first dose, as a result of both the measures and the rapid increase of the cases, while the appointments for the third dose are evolving satisfactorily. “I want to emphasize that the policy we have adopted over the last week seems to be working. “We had 140,000 new appointments, first installments and almost 200,000 third installments,” the prime minister said at a meeting with market people.
The third axis on which the government is moving is the strengthening of the NSS. Yesterday, the Giannis Oikonomou left open the possibility of ordering doctors, as the NSS “is under strong pressure, despite its impressive reinforcement in the last 18 months.” He stressed that both at the Community and national level, the increase in cases is inversely proportional to the embolic coverage of each region. The Minister of Health Thanos Plevris followed the same logic.
