Interrupted with the covid, the direct TGV line between Toulouse and Barcelona will not resume in 2022

The offer of a direct TGV line between Toulouse and Barcelona has been in existence since 2013. Interrupted with the covid health crisis, this line which linked the two cities in 3 hours and 12 minutes, will not resume service in 2022.
It’s here Renfe, on the Spanish side, which announced the shutdown of this direct line as indicated on October 27 by the local daily newspaper in the city of Tarragona (Catalonia), Diari from Tarragona.
Insufficient attendance
This Toulouse-Barcelona connection had recorded, during its five years of marketing, around 400,000 travelers.
It is the insufficient number of visitors on this line which causes this net stoppage of the line.
From now on, a correspondence in Narbonne
Instead, travelers can still get to Barcelona from Toulouse by train, but it will be necessary to transfer to Narbonne (Aude). The journey time will be between 3h30 and 4h.
Before the health crisis, the journey was punctuated by four stops: two in France, in Carcassonne (Aude) and Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales) and two in Spain, in Figueras and Girona.
The journeys were made by double-decker Euroduplex TGVs offering 509 seats on board.
