Health – Hanover – Corona incidence in the Cloppenburg district is just under 300 – Health
Cloppenburg (dpa / lni) – The district of Cloppenburg is currently particularly high in corona. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence of new infections on Tuesday as 289.1 – this is the number of corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants reported in the past seven days. This means that the district has the highest value in Lower Saxony. “It is now the case that it has arrived in all professional and social areas,” said a spokesman for the circle. Corona affects people of all ages from infants to senior citizens. The virus has spread to all municipalities and cities in the district. “Of course we are concerned and hope that the incidence does not continue to rise and that we can stop it.”
As one reason for the high numbers, the spokesman named a relatively low vaccination rate of around 60 percent. The majority of those infected are not vaccinated against Corona. It plays a role that there are many children under the age of twelve in the district who cannot be vaccinated. In addition, many adults offer a vaccination. Since the incidence of new infections is over 50, the 3G rules apply – people who have been vaccinated, who have tested negative and who have recovered have access to many areas.
The staff at St. Josefs Hospital in Cloppenburg come to the effects of the many infections. “At the moment we have four corona patients in the intensive care unit,” said the hospital’s manager on Tuesday. “As of today, we are not yet ready to have to cancel planned operations. But we are certainly at our limit, because we have other intensive care patients.” With a view to the increasing number of new infections, it is to be feared that the number of corona patients in the hospital will also increase.
