Lyon: the Lights of the Heart for the benefit of the GAELIS student association
This year, the Festival of Lights and its solidarity operation, the Lumignons du Cœur, are bringing forward a regional association: GAELIS. Throughout the health crisis, its network of students came to the aid of the most vulnerable.
Open a third solidarity grocery store
While the official program of the Festival of Lights must be unveiled at the end of the morning on Monday, we already know that Place des Jacobins will be dedicated to the Lumignons du Cœur solidarity operation with this year, a zoom on the student association GAELIS.
“To be honest, you wouldn’t expect it! We are very proud to have been chosen, it is a great highlight for us“, welcomes Coline Pisaneschi, president of GAELIS and student in speech therapy. “It is already visibility and it shows the interest of the authorities and the authorities for the problems of student precariousness in particular.“
The sums collected by the sale of candles will be donated to the association, “enough to allow us to continue our actions“, continues Coline Pisaneschi.”We have two social and solidarity grocery stores and we would like to open a third, why not in the center of Lyon to reach even more students.“
There are currently two, one on the Doua campus and another on the Porte des Alpes campus. Food is sold there at 10% of market price.
During the health crisis, GAELIS also organized distribution of baskets without condition of resources to help students in need. The association has also regularly alerted to the consequences of the crisis, particularly in terms of mental health.
