Prices for agricultural products in Moldova are rising
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, vegetable products became more expensive by 17.4%, and animal products by 19.6%. The producer price index (average sales prices by agricultural enterprises) for agricultural products in January-September 2021 compared to the respective period of 2020 was 117.9%.
In January-September 2021 the manufacturer’s prices at vegetable products increased by 17.4% compared to January-September 2020. More pronounced increased producer prices for soybeans – by 57.0%, rape – 41.6%, corn – by 37.4%, sunflower – by 34.9%, grapes of technical varieties – by 32.9%, legumes for grains – by 21.8%, barley – by 20.3%, wheat – by 11.5%. At the same time, producer prices for food gourd crops decreased by 18.7%, seeds – by 17.1%, vegetables – by 11.0%, potatoes – by 14.2%, rye – by 11 , 9%, notes TVR Moldova.
to animal products, in January-September 2021 compared to the respective period of 2020, there was an increase in producer prices by 19.6%, including edible eggs – by 33.5%, cattle and poultry (live mass) – by 19.2% and milk – by 5.0%.
The quarterly dynamics of producer prices compared to that period of the previous year is shown in Figure 1. Thus, producer prices in the third quarter compared to the third quarter of last year increased by 15.8%, including vegetable products – by 15.4% and animal – by 19.0%
