‘Say Polar cap where are you going’
Although many are seeing participation at the last minute as a result of the increasing contamination figures, the turnout at the Kimaatmars in Amsterdam on Saturday is high, as is clear at the beginning of the afternoon. Participants who gather on Dam Square carry signs and banners with texts such as ‘Say Polar cap where are you going’, ‘Fuck my ass, not the planet itself’ and ‘I want ice cream’.
People from all over the Netherlands have come to the capital to draw attention to the climate crisis. Activists from Utrecht, Monnickendam and Almere came to the protest by bicycle.
According to the organization, there are 40,000 people with us, the municipality expected earlier 20,000 participants on the march to the Westerpark. Political leaders such as Jesse Klaver, Lilianne Ploumen and Esther Ouwehand are also present.

On the way to the #climate march. Tackle the climate crisis, political leaders. Make Glasgow a huge success. Do what you were chosen to do: keep our society and our planet safe, livable and as beautiful as it is. pic.twitter.com/sw5Osa6rUG

We need to get started much faster. We know that major polluters do not change by themselves. An #climate obligation in the law makes sense, right? @MinPres @SigridKaag @WBHoekstra @environmental defense #Climate March pic.twitter.com/0FyBJ0pfO1

This week, world leaders are meeting in Glasgow on new climate measures. While other countries already agree to no longer plan in fossil fuels, the missionary cabinet there does not.
