NRGreport – Sustainability – Top leaders at the region’s most significant gas conference
The energy market crisis of last month and record high energy prices have led to a dramatic situation in the European natural gas market. What factors led to this? What can we expect in the long run and what are the key lessons? At the Budapest LNG Summit on 6 December, industry leaders will review how the sector has coped with the challenges so far, how it has adapted to new realities and what role gas will play in meeting the 2050 climate targets.
The two Budapest LNG Summits, held every time, are a unique forum at the regional level, bringing together the leaders of key companies in the sector, policy makers and renowned researchers in the industry to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing industry players.
The Budapest LNG Summit was held for the third time Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade opens it. The conference will be presented, among other things Yury Sentyurin, Secretary-General of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries, they oversee 71% of global gas reserves and more than 50% of global pipeline gas and LNG exports.
There is no doubt that energy developments over the next 30 years must point in the direction of decarbonisation. He will be the speaker of the Budapest LNG Summit Torben Brabo, President of Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), who will talk about how gas infrastructure will help achieve decarbonisation goals and net carbon neutrality by 2050.
The energy security of Central and Eastern Europe is greatly affected by the fact that, in parallel with the opening of the global LNG market, the countries of the region can now purchase gas from several sources. The speaker of the Budapest LNG Summit will be the CEO of the Krk LNG terminal in Croatia, which opened at the beginning of the year, Hrvoje Krhen and Arunas Molis, Director of the Lithuanian Klaipedia LNG Terminal.
To achieve the energy transition, all market players need to adapt and align with the 2050 climate targets while remaining competitive. Speakers at the conference include executives from large companies such as MET Group, Shell, ExxonMobil, Gazprom, SOCAR, Dentons, CEEGEX, FGSZ, GTSOU and Eustream who outline the challenges and opportunities facing the gas industry and what business strategy they seek to support the sustainable transformation of their operations.
The venue of the Budapest LNG Summit is the Hotel Marriott Budapest, where the all-day conference will once again bring together industry experts to discuss live, in person, the key issues affecting the future of the sector.
