Russia is not interested in Nord Stream 2
Pumping of Russian gas through the Yamal-Europe pipeline fell to zero last Saturday, and Gazprom incurred losses because it did not use the reserved capacity, Kublik said.
From the beginning, Gazprom has cut gas transit through Ukraine amid growing gas demand in Europe, the journalist writes.
All this testifies to Russia’s disinterest in Nord Stream 2, says Kublik.
“Without using the already operating transit gas pipelines to cover the demand for gas in Europe, and without even noticing this demand,” Gazprom shows that in the new pipe (the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline – ed. Germany, passing along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, there is no need, ”Kublik said.
Gazprom is thus manipulating the gas market, influencing the economies of European countries and the mood in society, he said.
Meanwhile, the German Ministry of Economics sees no threat in Nord Stream 2, “defiantly ignoring” remarks from the Polish oil and gas concern PGNiG.
“It is hard to believe that German officials managed to thoroughly study almost 600 pages of analytical calculationspresented by the concern “, – concluded Kublik.
Gas supplies to Germany via the Yamal-Europe pipeline may resume on Thursday, says European gas transmission operator Gascade.
Gas pumping to Europe through the pipeline stopped last Saturday. After that, gas began to reverse in the opposite direction – from Germany to Poland at the request of European consumers who asked Gazprom for the reverse.
