OGC Nice managed to overthrow, on the wire, the SCO thanks to a double from Andy Delort. Rennes was hung on the lawn of Troyes while Strasbourg outclassed Lorient
Nice, winner on the wire at Angers thanks to Andy Delort (2-1), seized second place in Ligue 1 on Sunday during the 12th day, where Bordeaux also managed to win at home for the first time this season.
The weekends follow one another and are alike for the people of Nice. As a week ago when they had overthrown OL (3-2) in added time, the Niçois this time gleaned the victory in the last seconds against Angers (2-1), to steal second place in the classification in Lens, fallen against these same Lyonnais the day before (2-1).
Led 1-0 at the break after a penalty converted by Sofiane Boufal (29th), Christophe Galtier’s men this time relied on Andy Delort, author of a double (57th, 91st) including a superb volley in additional time, to turn things around.
This victory allows OGC Nice to become the new runner-up of PSG – winner (2-1) Friday of Lille – with 23 points, and to remain so regardless of the result of OM (4th, 19 pts) to Clermont (15th, 13 pts) in the evening (8:45 p.m.).
Rennes hanging on to Troyes
The Marseillais, who have as many points and a difference of but equal to Rennes (+7), will give up their fourth place only in case of defeat at the Stade Gabriel-Montpied. Because the Rennes have been hooked to Troyes (2-2). The Bretons opened the scoring through their defender Nayef Aguerd (9th), author of his second but in two matches.
But it was another defender, Adil Rami, for his first but under the Trojan tunic (38th) who put the two teams tied, two minutes before Tristan Dingomé (40th) gave the advantage to the locals.
Rennes then pushed to finally equalize through Martin Terrier (81st).
Harmless Monaco
Without idea, AS Monaco were beaten by Brest 2-0, who pocketed their first victory of the season. The Brestois thanks to Steve Mounié and Franck Honorat have offered themselves a prestigious success and come back two points behind Reims, 17th. The Monegasques, very little in sight offensively and four days of clash against PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League, suffer a third defeat in the league this season.
Strasbourg crushes Lorient
In the middle of the table, Strasbourg made short work of Lorient in its lair of Meinau (4-0). Strasbourg, thanks to a double from Habib Diallo and a goal from Ludovic Ajorque, already led 3-0 at half-time, before Adrien Thomasson weighed down the mark in the second period.
A fourth success at home for Racing, just like for Montpellier, who beat Nantes (2-0) with achievements from Mollet (64th) and Wahi (71st) and comes back to one point behind his opponent of the day.
The Girondins de Bordeaux, for their part, snatched their first victory at home this season, against Reims (3-2), thanks to Jimmy Briand.
