Gergely Karácsony is not “green” enough for the LMP in Budapest
The LMP is asking Mayor Gergely Karácsony to stand firmly in favor of green policy goals during his remaining term of office and to resolutely represent the vision of a more livable Budapest, said Bernadett Bakos, a member of the opposition party’s Budapest presidency, at a press conference on Facebook on Sunday.
At the press conference, Máté Kanász-Nagy, President of LMP, evaluating the work of the mayor’s partner for the past two years, said that positive steps had been taken in Budapest, but unfortunately there were no shortcomings.
He highlighted cycling developments, including the creation of cycle lanes and plans to develop green spaces, as a step towards a more livable, sustainable, cleaner and greener capital.
The co-chair of the LMP would have noted that they did not agree that the municipality of the capital should advertise the former swimming pool plot in Újpest for sale, because they think that this area should be used as a public park.
Bernadett Bakos said the capital needs to build more bike lanes and has drastically reduced car traffic by introducing a usage- and pollution-proportional congestion charge.
The taiga of the LMP presidency in Budapest complained that no progress had been made on the issue of noise pollution at Ferihegy Airport.
