Almost 5,700 new corona infections in Austria
5,684 corona infections were added across Austria in 24 hours on Sunday. That is well above the average of the last seven days of 4,625, on the Sunday of the previous week there were 3,624 new cases.
Most positive tests were added in Upper Austria, as on the previous day, there were 1,560, caused by Lower Austria with 1,184 and Styria with 717. Vienna recorded 560 cases, Salzburg 465, Carinthia 414, Tyrol 380, Vorarlberg 297 and Burgenland 107.
The seven-day incidence (number of new infections within seven days) rose sharply this week and is now 362.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The federal state with the highest value is Upper Austria with 576, Salzburg (498), Lower Austria (383) and Vorarlberg (360). Carinthia (359), Tyrol (321), Styria (319), Burgenland (225) and Vienna (206) also follow.
Twelve within a week there have been 106 Covid deaths registered since Saturday. In total, the coronavirus has claimed 11,357 lives in Austria so far. There have been 830,981 confirmed cases in this country since the start of the pandemic. 774,316 people have survived an infection; 3,161 are considered healthy again within the last 24 hours. As of Sunday there were 45,308 active cases, 2,511 more than on Saturday.
There were 1,444 people in the hospital on Sunday morning, 38 more than the previous day. 280 people are cared for in intensive care units. That number has increased by seven since Saturday and has increased by 61 patients in a week.
11,188 vaccinations were entered in the e-vaccination card on Saturday. More than 5.9 million people in Austria have so far received at least one partial vaccination, currently 66.1 percent of the population. Almost 5.6 million people and thus 62.6 percent of Austria’s residents are fully immunized.
