International festival for LGB choirs is coming to Brussels
In 2026, Brussels will welcome the four-yearly international festival for LGBTQI+ choirs Various Voices. Our capital beat Spain’s Barcelona.
The Brussels gay and lesbian choir Sing Out Brussels! several votes with the help of the Brussels tourism agency Visit.brussels to Belgium. “We have been working on this candidacy for a year and a half. It is a very international festival with a hundred choirs and almost 4,000 voices from all over Europe, but also from North America, Asia and Oceania,” say Marina Belotti and Christophe Cordier , the organizers of Diverse Votes 2026.
The Brussels edition of Various Voices will take place in June 2026 under the slogan ‘Let your heart be heard’. The highlight of the five-day festival, with both indoor and (free) open-air events, will be an evening program in the European quarter.
Visit.brussels expected that the festival will also contribute to Brussels tourism. “With more than 10,000 overnight stays in Brussels, this festival will not only illustrate the values of openness expressed by the Brussels Region, but will also have an extremely positive impact on the Brussels tourism sector,” said Margaux Huvelle of Visit.brussels.
The next edition of Various Voices was originally planned next year in Bologna, Italy, but has been postponed to the summer of 2023 due to the corona pandemic. The previous editions took place in Munich, Dublin and London.
