Water polo – Hanover – Spandau will “finally win again” Supercup – sport
Hanover / Berlin (dpa / bb) – The German water polo record champion Spandau 04 will end the dry spell in the Supercup. “We want to finally win the cup again,” said 04 manager Peter Röhle before the 22nd edition against Master Waspo Hannover on Sunday in the Hannover stadium (2pm). So far, only the two opponents have entered the list of winners, Hanover six times, Spandau 15 times.
But the Berliners were last successful in 2016, then Waspo won four times in a row. The last duel on May 5, 2021 ends at 8: 6 for Lower Saxony. On Sunday, the two arch rivals face each other for the ninth time in the Supercup, six of the previous eight comparisons have won the Lower Saxony. Only twice (1999, 2014) won the capital city. Both teams face each other up to 13 times in four competitions (championship, cup, Supercup, Champions League) in the current season.
And Hannover has already presented this season. In the DSV Cup final 2021 on October 17th, which was postponed due to the pandemic, the Hanoverians won 18:14 in Berlin. This was followed by significant away defeats for both clubs at the start of the Champions League in the middle of this week. “It remains to be seen who has drawn the better conclusions and who is in better shape for the day,” said Röhle.
