Tram or not tram in Annecy? At the city council, it is the rififi around the choice of new public transport
Mobility in the Agglomeration of Annecy was the hot topic of the last municipal campaign. It is again a subject of sharp discord within the municipal majority of Annecy between the president of Grand Annecy and the mayor who summoned the press on Wednesday, October 27 to explain himself.
“I wouldn’t want the debate confiscated“it is in these terms that François Astorg, the mayor (Various Ecologists) of Annecy approached the press. private council to give their opinion on the future plan of public transport, the scenario favored by the elected officials present only bus lines with a high level of service, exit from the tram …
“The question is not to say, this scenario is better than the other, I have my conviction, the studies are complementary, and I am convinced that a tram-bus mix, with a high level of service, remains the best. solution, but what matters is that the debate does not take place only between the elected representatives “ repeats the mayor who wishes to recall that “during the elections 90% of Annecy residents voted for the 2 lists which proposed the tram in their project for Annecy” and that he wants to ensure “that we make the right choice, that the debate does not revolve only around financial questions, and that it is open to citizens”.
Beyond the political polemics, it is indeed the whole question of mobility in Annecy and its agglomeration for the next 30 years which is at the heart of the debates, and which concerns the population.
The subject is far from closed. Three public meetings, meetings and debates are scheduled in Annecy on November 2, 9 and 16 before the vote of the 95 elected community representatives on November 18
