Rtl today – pandemic in Luxembourg: nearly 1,000 new infections last week
During the week of October 18 to 24, 981 new coronavirus infections were counted, almost 200 more than the previous week.
The authorities published on Wednesday the new weekly report on the Covid situation in Luxembourg. Figures refer to the week of October 18-24.
According to the Minister of Health, the fourth wave of coronavirus has arrived. The figures from the weekly report confirming this:The number of new infections rose from 786 to 981 in one week.
Among the 981 new infections, the incidence rate of unvaccinated people is 241 per 100,000 inhabitants and that of people with a complete vaccination schedule is 105.
In education, a scenario 4 has been registered a ENAD, the National School for Adults, in Luxembourg. Seven positive cases were identified in a fifth grade.
Regarding theorigin of new contaminations, in more thana third of cases, it’s about family circle and in 14% of school. Then come leisure activities (7%) and work (6.5%). Travel abroad is virtually no longer a source of infection.
At the level of hospitalizations, 17 new entries Covid patients were counted last week. 11 of them were not vaccinated. Of the seven patients in intensive care, five were not vaccinated. The situation is considered stable in hospitals. The average age of patients dropped from 67 to 51 years.
All rates are spread upward last week. The reproduction rate increased from 1.11 to 1.17, the positivity rate from 4.8 to 5.9%. The incidence rate increased from 124 to 155 cases per 100,000 population over seven days.
