After the rock fall at the city archives in Salzburg’s Glockengasse in January, precautions are now being taken for the future. Rock securing work will be carried out there from the beginning of November to secure the Kapuzinerbergwand.
The city of Salzburg announced in a broadcast today that the work should be completed by mid-December.
Rock anchors support the Kapuzinerbergwand
50 to 60 rock anchors with a length of four to six meters are to support the Kapuzinerbergwand in the future. Drilling holes for setting the anchors can cause noise during the construction work.
60 tons of rubble thunder in the city archive
A rock fall on Saturday shortly after 6 a.m. destroyed the reading room of the Haus der Stadtgeschichte in Salzburg-Schallmoos. There were no last ones.
Rock fall in the Glockengasse
The city is reacting to the rock fall of January 23, 2021, when a total of 60 tons of rock and a huge slab of rock fell from the Kapuzinerberg and destroyed the reading room of the city archive. The clean-up will take until mid-March, and the reading room is now back in operation.
