November of Science in Hanover 2021
Wide-ranging program at 180 events at Hanover universities and research institutions
Digital, hybrid and in presence – the November of Science in Hanover will be #knowember for two weeks this year. From November 1 to 14, Hanover universities, research institutions and educational institutions invite you to lectures, discussions, experiments and excursions.
Lord Mayor Belit Onay thanks all the scientific institutions that, despite the pandemic-related challenges, are making a large contribution to the traditional knowledge format of the Hannover Science Initiative: “Science in November is once again an excellent flagship for Hannover as a university and science location. Committed scientists and show that they are passionate about science communication and make a current contribution to the future of our society ”.
The kick-off event will take place on Monday, November 1st, at 6 p.m. in Herrenhausen Palace at the Volkswagen Foundation. With films and lectures, Hanoverian scientists present current research questions under the title “Society in Transformation”. It discusses environmental technologies and sustainability management, artificial intelligence in medicine, the human-animal relationship and the importance of art and culture for our lives.
With over a hundred events, Leibniz Universität Hannover contributes to the special diversity of #knowember. Even if this year’s November of science has fewer offers in attendance, there is still a lot for children and young people to discover. More than 50 events are suitable for schoolchildren and will be open to www.hannover.de/knowember bundled.
At the end of November of Science Hannover 2021 and in remembrance of the anniversary of Leibniz’s death on November 14, 1716, a special highlight goes online: A so-called Adventure Lab Cache leads explorers with their smartphones to Leibniz locations whose location changes over the course of the Time in Hanover has changed. With this free app, after the end of November, science can become the journey to new knowledge.
The November of Science is a project of the Hannover Science Initiative, in which all Hanoverian universities, the Fraunhofer ITEM, the Volkswagen Foundation, the Studentenwerk and the hannoverimpuls GmbH are involved in addition to the state capital. The format has been held every two years since 2008 and was postponed for one year in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The November of Science 2021 is funded by the Sparkasse Hannover.
