The Central Bohemian Region withdrew from the introduction of trolleybus transport from Prague to Kostelec nad Labem. He does not want to proceed against the will of the municipalities on the route, which do not agree with the intention, Petr Borecký (STAN), a councilor for public transport, said at Monday’s meeting of the regional council. The deputies took note of this.

According to Borecký, the governor’s office withdrew from the construction of line 377 to Kostelec, on the contrary, the preparation of line 375 to Brandýs nad Labem continues, because the municipality agrees with this project. The municipalities of Veleň, Sluhy, Mratín, Brázdim and Polerady and Kostelec did not agree with the introduction of trolleybus transport from Prague to Kostelec nad Labem. According to them, the intention is meaningless, they are bothered by, for example, the management of contact wires.
“Trolleybuses belong to cities, not to fields and villages. We refuse for the Central Bohemian Region to wire up the whole village with trolleys and columns, “he said in a protest petition, which people and 7499 on Monday, the regional representatives also took note of.
Representatives of the governor objected that the so-called partial trolleybuses have their own accumulators and the trolleys would be only in some sections. Borecký reminded that the region had been preparing the project since 2019. According to him, it made sense, but the municipalities were not convinced. “We came to the conclusion that it is not worth pushing with force over the resistance of the municipalities,” Borecký added. The construction of line 377 is thus stopped.

Line to Brandýs
In the case of line 375 from Prague’s Harfa to Brandýs nad Labem, it is different according to the council situation, because the municipalities support the route. Councilors in the discussion on trolleybus transport to Kostelec before concerning the obligations towards the EU with emission-free transport. He noted that electric buses, hydrogen buses or trolleybuses can be used. According to him, trolleybuses were the most sensible solution for the given locality, even from a study that the region had prepared by the Faculty of Transport of the Czech Technical University.
Trolleybuses are to run from Prague to the Central Bohemian Region around 2025. The region would like to finance the construction from 70 to 85 percent of subsidies.
