a shootout targeting police officers provoking the intervention of the Raid
On Monday evening, a shooting took place in the Lyon district of La Duchère. An intervention was still in progress around 11 p.m., confirmed the prefecture of Lyon.
The prefecture of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes was announced Monday evening via twitter at 9 p.m. that a police operation was underway in the peripheral district of Lyon La Duchère. The prosecution opened an investigation, said Pascal Mailhos, the regional prefect, adding that “serious facts had taken place, one or more individuals deliberately on national police”.
Police officers from the Bac were targeted by gunfire and part of the area is cordoned off. Raid forces have been called upon.
The prefecture confirmed that no one was injured. The gunman, who fled after opening fire on several occasions, is still wanted according to the daily newspaper the prefect at the end of the evening.
“We can see that the actions we are taking to shell the places of dealings are producing effects, and there are reactions, which of course I condemn, and which will be clarified within the framework of the investigation that the prosecution has just declared. ‘engage’ declared Prefect Pascal Mailhos.
