87-year-old married 85-year-old in Athens – “I did not want to but I did it”
A love story that lasted for 15 years and had started in a tavern ended yesterday with the civil wedding of Nikos and Martha at the City Hall of Athens with Kostas Bakogiannis marrying the couple.
The 87-year-old and the 85-year-old joined their lives and “officially” as Mr. Nikos Papadopoulos will say to protothema.gr, who worked in Germany for more than 50 years.
Nikos Papadopoulos explained that for 15 years he had been telling Martha to get married but she did not want to. “She did not want to marry me, but after so many years I did. I had told her what would happen to me getting married at last and she finally agreed to go to the City Hall “.
As he said, their knowledge had been made in a tavern. She was a widow like him and they decided to go together. Mr. Nikos has a daughter and two grandchildren and in the coming days he will arrange a big table for the happy event.
The mayor of Athens, Costas Bakogiannis, revealed yesterday through his social media accounts the fact:
“Do you, Nikos, want Martha as your wife?”
⁃ OF COURSE !!
⁃ Do you Martha want Nikos as your husband?
⁃ VERY!!
And somehow tonight at the City Hall, two lives were united in marriage, 87 and 85 years old. Smiling, bright and truly happy. Even if it is a love story! “
Nikos Papadopoulos also revealed that in Munich, where he was, he had also met Pavlos Bakoyannis and when their civil marriage ended yesterday, he spoke with Kostas Bakoyannis about his father quite excitedly: “I remembered when I met the great Pavlos Bakoyannis and he and I was moved. “
