Toulouse: CLAE receptions on strike in schools, Thursday, October 21
A dozen schools in Toulouse will be chosen by a strike by the animators of CLAE, the leisure centers associated with the school, Thursday, October 21. They will disengage at midday. The animators protest against the change in the rate of supervision of children.
From January 2022, the Toulouse city hall is implementing a new rate of regulatory supervision for children, in the CLAEs of its some 210 schools. A “compliance” with the national standard, explains the town hall. In kindergarten, this rate will drop from 1 adult for 10 children, to 1 adult for 14 children. In elementary school, it will now be 1 adult for 18 children, compared to 1 adult for 14 children, currently. “These rates were generalized in 2016 by decree, following the Peillon law on the reform of school rhythms. A majority of large cities have already applied it for many years. This is the case in Paris, Rennes, Grenoble, Clermont -Ferrand, Lille and Montpellier “, explains the town hall of Toulouse.
A dozen CLAE will be affected, Thursday, October 21 at midday, by a strike of the animators, which asks for the maintenance of the current rate of supervision. The CLAEs of the Ronsard, Amidonniers, Lespinasse, Falguière, Musset, Hyon, Bonnefoy, Lakanal and Jacquier schools in particular are on strike.
For the parents of FCPE students, this “unilateral” decision by the Toulouse town hall is “unacceptable”. “While extracurricular time is educational time, freedom and emancipation, fewer staff in CLAEs imply for our children: less safety, less education, fewer activities, fewer projects, less prevention . The FCPE supports the staff of animation: no to daycare, yes to education “. An online petition has already gathered 2,070 signatures, on the FCPE 31 website.
