Trail running: the old town and city mountains are conquered at a run
For the tenth anniversary, the “Trailrunning Festival” has a “Trail Marathon”: the runner does 42 kilometers in three days.
SALZBURG. Exercise and exercise in the fresh air were undoubtedly one of the best ways to do something good for your body and mind during the lockdown. It is hardly surprising that many have rediscovered running for themselves. Josef “Sepp” Gruber, organizer and organizer of the “Trailrunning Festival” in Salzburg knows that too.
Cover the marathon distance at the trail running festival
Around 1,000 active participants will conquer the old town and the city mountains at a run from October 22nd to 24th. “After the corona-related small event last year with the app run, we are very happy that we can organize a real running festival again for our ten-year anniversary,” says Gruber.
A total of six advertisements are on the program from Friday to Sunday – from Mönchsberg, Festungsberg or Gaisberg, participants can experience the city from lofty heights. “With the trail marathon, we came up with something special for the anniversary. The runners cover the distance of 42 kilometers, the marathon distance results from the night run on Friday, the fortress trail on Saturday and the Gaisberg trail on Sunday good training beforehand, “says Gruber.
Experience with an enthusiastic audience
It is all the more important that the participants can rely on the support of the audience again this year. “That was missing in the previous year with the app run, that of course also pushes the runners when there are enthusiastic spectators along the running route,” says Gruber. Balthasar Laireiter, who takes part in the trail marathon, and Johannes Nussbaumer, who participates in the fortress trail, are also aware of this effect.
“This is my first time there, it will be important that you divide your strengths well. With the audience, the experience is of course a different one,” said Nussbaumer.
The diaper and children’s trail is organized for the little ones on Saturday. “You can’t start running early enough,” adds Gruber with a smile.
