Barrandov and Baba. The Prague Council approved the extension of paid parking zones in Prague 5 and 6
In Prague 5, the zones would begin to expand to the Barrandov, Žvahov, Zlíchov and old Hlubočep housing estates next year.
The management of the capital has approved the extension of the paid parking zone in Prague 5 and 6, which we are asking for of the city councils. Adam Scheinherr, the mayor’s deputy for transport, told reporters after today’s meeting of city councilors. He added that the council also approved some minor modifications to the zone in other parts of the city.
In Prague 5, the zones would begin to expand to the Barrandov, Žvahov, Zlíchov and old Hlubočep housing estates next year. In the sixth part of the city, the extension concerns the Baba housing estate and the surroundings of the Libocký pond. The zones in the metropolis are operated by the municipality, their modifications must be approved by the city council. It has been a long-standing practice that the city management accepts the requirements of city districts for zone modifications on its territory.
The council today approved other minor requirements of the town halls. For example, in Prague 1, according to Scheinherr, the amendment concerns Opletalova Street, in Prague 4 Točitá Street, in Prague 9 the extension in U Lidového domu Street, in Prague 10 Pod soutratí and U Seřadiště Streets, in Prague 7 Varhulíkové and Kouteckého Streets and in Klánovice the changes will affect Plečická and Lovčická streets.
The regulation of parking in the metropolis first appeared in a modern form in 1996 in the part of Prague 1, where the effort to regulate traffic began in 1982. Subsequently, they were expanded and operate in Prague 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 16 and 22. Part of the town halls is not established in its entire territory, but in selected parts, and they are gradually expanding.
