Easy Monaco, ASVEL on the ground
If Monaco ignored its European disappointments in dominant Dijon (93-73), ASVEL experienced its first disappointment of the season in Betclic Elite on the Strasbourg floor (82-74).
Monaco had a happier weekend. Beaten by Real Madrid then by Barcelona in the Euroleague, the “Roca Team” took advantage of the return to current affairs of the Betclic Elite to inflict a clear setback on Dijon. If the JDA was able to take a few seconds the scoring advantage of a length at the start of the first quarter, it was the only moment during which the teammates of David Holston (15 points, 8 assists) had the ascendancy . Indeed, this meeting of the 4th day was a long calm river for the club of the Principality.
The Dijonnais had beautiful hang on with a delay of only five points at the end of the first quarter, the men of Zvezdan Mitrovic increased the pace from the start of the second with a 10-0 which allowed them to s ‘fly to the notice board. An 8-0 shortly before half-time even allowed ASM to exceed the 20-point lead. However, to pride, the vice-champions of France tried to react to the return of the locker room but the gap never fell below ten points. Teammates Donatas Motiejunas (16 points, 8 rebounds) and Danilo Andjusic (16 points) did better than ensure in the last ten minutes for a success of 20 lengths (93-73) which allows them to join the leading pack with three victories in four days.
ASVEL trapped in Strasbourg
A leading pack because… ASVEL experienced the throes of defeat for the first time this season in the league. On the Strasbourg floor, TJ Parker players were taken cold. Led by Tony Crocker (24 points, 7 rebounds), the Alsatian club took the lead from the first moments of the meeting… never to lose control. But, after having counted up to thirteen points in advance in the first quarter, the players of Lassi Tuovi were not however completely immune. Indeed, with a 14-2, the teammates of Elie Okobo (13 points) were able to reduce the gap for the same return to a length shortly before halftime.
If the SIG raised its head on the return to the floor of the Rhénus, the Villeurbannais did not relax their grip but, after having equalized, they were unable to take the advantage on the scoreboard. A failure that the Alsatians did not let pass. Finishing the third quarter on an 8-2, the SIG regained control and crossed the last ten minutes of the meeting, trembling only once, when the ASVEL came back to two lengths. It is finally with an advantage of eight lengths that Strasbourg signs its first success of the season (82-74) when ASVEL is now at the level of five other teams, with Boulogne-Levallois leading the standings.
