OL win and revive against Monaco
Still on two consecutive games without a win, Olympique Lyonnais had to do a good result against AS Monaco this Saturday night, in order to move up the standings. Deprived of Slimani, Dembele and with a Paqueta too fair to start, Bosz lined up a 4-2-3-1 with Cherki in particular at the forefront. For its part, Monaco, deprived of Tchouaméni and Golovin, aligned a 4-4-2 with the former OL player, Jean Lucas, in the midfield. And after a shy start to the match, OL offered themselves the first opportunities in this game. Nubel won twice in front of Toko Ekambi (22nd, 26th). Before Aouar completely misses his shot (35th). But despite these opportunities, Lyon did not really manage to make the difference in this first period.
After the break, the Monegasques were more enterprising and Gelson Martins forced Pollersbeck to show himself (50th). But as at the start of the match, ASM died out during this second period and risked conceding the opener after a big mistake by Badiashile (63rd). Then the entry of Paqueta, who was not to appear in the group after playing with the Seleçao, changed everything. Moments later and a new Lyon offensive, Disasi was behind Dubois and conceded the penalty, perfectly transformed by Toko Ekambi (1-0, 75th). At the end of the game and on an action initiated by Paqueta, perfectly served by Emerson, Denayer ensured success for OL by beating Nubel at close range (2-0, 90 ‘). Without shining despite its domination, Olympique Lyonnais provides the essential and returns to victory before the Europa League. A success that allows OL to return to fifth place in Ligue 1. Monaco stagnates in 7th place before the reception of Montpellier on the 11th day and a perilous trip to PSV, Thursday, in C3.
