Monaco tilts into the Rhône
Monaco moved to the Rhône tonight to face OL in the shock of this tenth day of Ligue 1.
Deprived of many players in the midfield, Monegasque coach Niko Kovac had to tinker with the midfield with Fofana, Jean Lucas and young Matazo. It is the Lyonnais who quickly have the game on their own with in particular a first opportunity by Cherki. Dominated in the recovery of the ball, the Monegasques only had many chances in the game, it was not until kicking stops to approach the Lyon area. Present in his cages Nübel made good saves to keep a zero and goalless score in the first period.
Returning from the locker room, the Monegasques quickly obtained an opportunity with a superb strike from Gelson, well stopped by the Lyon goalkeeper. Too passive in the loss of the ball, the Monegasques could have taken a but around the hour mark following a good action from the men of JM Aulas. After a fault from Disasi in the area, the Lyon by Toko Ekambi logically opened the scoring on penalty. Following the entry of Paqueta Lyon side, the Rhone largely marked the Monegasques too attentive in the game. The second Lyon goal is on his initiative, the Brazilian served Emerson well for Denayer who worsened the score for the Lyonnais.
In the standings and before tomorrow’s meetings, Monaco is seventh with fourteen points, just one point behind Nice third. The next ASM meeting will be European with the trip to PSV Eindhoven, in Ligue 1 Monaco will host Montpellier on Sunday at 5 p.m.
