The supporters are calling for a new striker!
With six wins and one draw in seven league games, AC Milan’s start to the season has been largely satisfactory. The defensive base seems assured for a team which collects less than one maize per game and the players at the front keep up the maize marked. However, this form that the supporters of Milan had hoped to find for many years, they believe that the priority of recruitment would be in attack!
This season marks the return of Milan to the forefront of the European scene. An exciting 2021-2022 year for this club that seems have the weapons to perform on many tables, and accumulate the matches of the Champions League with those of Serie A. However, the enthusiasm must not make people forget the construction sites which must be taken care of in order to remain at the top level. Some contractual situations must be anticipated, in the same way than the bench depth which must be insured.
Among the priorities, the supporters decided
This week, La Gazetta dello Sport asked AC Milan supporters to give their opinion on the club’s priority projects. If the themes were diverse and varied, the hierarchy of wishes seems clear among the Rossoneri.
A 48.8%, readers of the Italian daily claim that Milan’s priority is to recruit a new striker. This is the answer that comes well ahead of all the others and that may seem surprising. Indeed, the renewal of coach Stefano Pioli’s contract is a priority for only 23.6% of the interviewees. However, the Italian technician will see his contract come to an end on June 30, at the end of this season.
Likewise pour the renewal of the contract of Ivorian midfielder Franck KessiƩ. The one who is coveted by much of Europe sees his contract expire next June, like his trainer, but only 21.1% of respondents want to see it continue. An admission of impossibility to retain the player for Milan?
An attack in the works
If we lean more carefully on the Rossoneri workforce, this need in attack is actually quite clearly understood. The three business centers of the club are Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olivier Giroud and Pietro Pellegri. At 40, the Swedish giant is certainly still capable of great things, but it does not represent a future value for ambitious long-term supporters. This argument is all the more valid with regard to thean ease with which he blesses himself. Still on the sidelines in October, his reliability is no longer the same as his years at PSG.
Regarding Giroud, his profile is special. Although it was accueilli with great fervor by Milan supporters, he is also not the headliner of the club for years to come.. Finally Pellegri, on loan from Monaco, doesn’t seem to satisfy anyone at the San Siro. His return to the Rock seems inevitable at this time of the season.
While it is Ante Rebic who currently occupies the tip of 4-2-3-1 of Pioli, finding a number 9 worthy of the name seems we could not be more logical. Bring players such as Rafael Leao or Rebic precisely, appears as a real priority.
