Huge construction site in the middle of Zurich – the king of all excavators attracts fans to Zurich
The king of all excavators attracts fans to Zurich
The A-Rex, Europe’s largest dismantling excavator, is tearing down the oldest waste incineration plant in Switzerland on Josefstrasse. A spectacle for construction site fans.
He wears two cameras around his neck and lifts another one over the construction site wall by a pole. The middle-aged man came specially from Pforzheim because of what there is to see in Zurich. Pforzheim is in the north of Stuttgart. And, as the man enthusiastically explains, you can see the A-Rex in action. The largest dismantling excavator in Europe. “Fascinating, isn’t it?”
It is really big and is working on a really big building. At the former waste incineration plant (KVA) Josefstrasse. And A-Rex is not alone. There are other colossi all around plucking, tearing, pressing and sorting. Sometimes you only hear the quiet engines and the hum of the rotating excavator arms, then it cracks and rattles loudly again.
