Vaccination rates are alarmingly low in northern Greece – The areas in question
The majority of vaccinators in our country are concentrated in northern Greece, with this phenomenon scaring the experts.
They stubbornly refuse to make appointments for vaccination of six out of ten citizens in Macedonia and Thrace. In Thessaloniki, half of the citizens have not received a single dose of the vaccine, while in Halkidiki and Imathia the percentages of the vaccinated do not reach 50%.
Kilkis has the lowest vaccination rates with only 41% of citizens being vaccinated, 42% in Pieria and 43.25% in Drama. About 40% of the residents in Serres, Kavala and Xanthi remain unvaccinated against the virus, as they do not seem willing to visit the vaccination centers.
Drama has the highest mortality rate in the country and is the area that concerns experts more than any other.
At the same time, the committee of epidemiologists put Evros and Magnesia in the red zone, while the data of the experts show that the epidemic in Thessaly and northern Greece is not receding.
With hospitals in northern Greece being filled with unvaccinated people, mobile units have been moved to areas of Macedonia and Thrace since Tuesday to persuade many to be vaccinated.
A unit of the Ministry of Health with Mina Gaga in danger is located in northern Greece, checking the condition of the hospitals, with the specialists finding occupancy of the intensive care units by unvaccinated patients.
