The emigrant who returned to Lithuania works much more here, but also encourages others to return
Sandra decided to go abroad to earn an initial housing contribution – it seems a lot difficult to do so in Lithuania. Prior to that, she graduated from high school in Linkuva, then studied physics and astronomy at the current Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. Although she liked the chosen studies, after barely trying to work in her specialty, she felt that the teaching profession was not for her.
Then he retrained and worked as an accountant in Vilnius, and soon he got a work permit (at that time Lithuania did not belong to the European Union, then he needed it) and went to work in Ireland.
She worked in a hotel room in Dublin for four years. It is said that the employers did not help and did not hurt, but they got tired at work, and sometimes there were very unpleasant moments – when entering the hotel room gave the impression that it was not the people who lived there, but the beasts, and she had to dig out all the jealousy.
Later, the emigrant managed to get a job in the office – he became a personal assistant to the director of one company engaged in the production of power plants. We also managed to earn the initial contribution and buy a home in Vilnius, let’s get a loan.
As the goal was achieved, Sandra returned to Lithuania satisfied. But it is barely moving forward in 2008. crisis. Employed the newly established hotel reception. He worked, but several times did not receive a salary, savings followed, so he felt very uncomfortable.
And decided to emigrate again. He could go back to Ireland, to his old job, but wanted to try something new. He went to London, determined that he could work in a simple maid again, even though he wanted a lot more work in the office.
“I was lucky, maybe I was born under a happy star – I went to London on February 14, and on March 9 I am already working. I became an assistant director in a small company selling mobile phone accessories, where I have worked for almost nine years, ”says Sandra.
And seven years ago, during a lunch break, a simple event occurred that led to further twists and turns in the emigrant’s career. While browsing the internet, she saw a photo of a beautiful cake covered in a glossy, so-called mirror, glaze.
“And until then, sometimes I used to make delicacies at home, some mushrooms, I also knew how to bake a cake. But the cake I saw looks special to me. I told myself that if others like to bake like that, I have to learn too. I immediately found dedicated courses on the Internet and registered for them, ”the woman wants.
During the course, Sandra not only learned how to bake cakes with mirror glaze, but also became very involved in the production of desserts. “Every Monday I brought to work to taste the new scanners I kept. The initial colleagues are very happy, and later I was already sighing – after eating I asked to say whether it was not too sweet or the cream was not too thick and the like, because I really wanted to consider the opinions of those around me and improve, ”he reported.
With her delicacies, she divided her neighbors, friends and acquaintances, and eventually people came up who wanted to buy her desserts. The home kitchen became soaked through pastries, and the making of cakes began to interfere with direct work. Sometimes when a small kitchen had to get 8 cakes, there was panic.
“Eventually, the employer called me on the mat and told me that I was a well-respected employee, you see that I want to take a lot of my time away from making desserts, so it is time for me to decide whether I work for one or the other. I am very grateful to the manager for saying that. Then I decided: I have been working in England as intensively as possible for a year, so that I have money to start a business, and then return to Lithuania and take cakes, ”Sandra will report.
Work until night
As he said, do so. Four years ago, he returned to Vilnius, founded the center of the studio’s capital (its installation took almost a year, required investment), founded the company Sandrita Cakes and bakes cakes, cupcakes, biscuits Macarons to order (the latter are sensitive to even the weather – if very moist, may leave nothing) and other desserts. Also, women are increasingly attending distance or real courses, interested in innovations in this field.
The first orders were close and familiar, but the circle of customers expanded rapidly and now there is no shortage of orders.
“I work alone, I work for myself, no one tells me, and if no one succeeds, I can only blame myself. But romantic at work is small – that work is also said by my colleagues. There are no strict working hours, which means I came to work this time at 6:30 in the morning because I still had to decorate the cake, which I did right after 7 p.m. withdrawn by the customer. Well, and sometimes you have to work up to 2 hours. night, ”Sandra said.
You also have to work on weekends. After handing out orders, sometimes it’s already free on Saturday afternoons, but usually on Sunday I have to come to the studio again to prepare for Monday’s production.
One of the harder working days was past Christmas Eve. He arrived at work that day at 4 p.m. in the morning as many orders were waiting. He did what was most urgent and sat folding in cardboard boxes – there were a total of 300 of them.
“I was more flexible and I felt them cut my hands. I put on gloves – often that too. Then I looked at the clock – already at 11:30, and I only have half the boxes – and such despair overwhelmed me … I sat on the stairs and squatted for an hour. Then I drank coffee and took those unfortunate boxes again – well, after all, no one else will do it for me, ”said the interlocutor, sometimes anxiously thinking about the approaching Christmas.
Although she does not lack orders and constantly receives compliments from customers for the great taste and quality of desserts, she admits that it happens that some pastry is added, raspberry filling spills on the table or sugar ends when cooking.
The walls also help
“If you ask me what I want, what I don’t know well, I just refuse. For example, I don’t make friends with yeast dough, baking quality Easter bobs just doesn’t come out for me, so I don’t bake. If a client shows me a picture and says they want the exact same cake, I say I can’t exactly do the same, just like it. After all, it’s handmade, I wouldn’t go out to get two all the same cakes myself. I also have a few branded ones where another, even if I gave a prescription, still wouldn’t be able to do it. The funniest thing is when a customer says roughly what they would like – say, a cake space theme – and I can do what I think is best, ”says Sandra.
When making delicacies for children’s celebrations, he usually asks for the opinion of his son, eleven-year-old Igno, who grows up alone after the divorce. If your son likes something, other children will like it too.
Sometimes a woman thinks it would be quite fun to work again in an office where there are accurate working hours and unnecessary ferries at 4 p.m. in the morning or work until 2 o’clock at night, as sometimes happens now. However, this happens in moments of weakness, and in general she is very satisfied that she has returned to Lithuania and has to love work here.
And other emigrants urge Sandra to return to her homeland. Here she is excellent herself – in Ireland and England, even with a good command of the language, she still did not feel this way. “In your country, borders also help,” said the interlocutor.
