Toulouse- Fayçal Sahraoui: “You have to beware of an injured animal”
Fayçal, make a little return on this basket which sends the TBC in overtime in Rennes last week. A stroke of luck or a tactical combination?
The ball came back to me at the end of possession. There wasn’t much to do except shoot. I took my responsibilities. It’s back. Good for the team!
A basket like this builds confidence for overtime, doesn’t it?
We will say that! We remained serious about the end of the match. But our start was not so good. We remained united. We knew how to come back as we had to go for this victory.
C evening, place in La Rochelle where you played for eight years. Is it always a special game?
No. I moved on to something else. I play in Toulouse. I am from Toulouse. Even though my family lives in La Rochelle and my daughters play at Stade Rochelais! It’s a bit special! But it’s a game like any other. We know that if we want to have ambitions we must not lose at home. We will do everything to win even if on paper we are not the favorites.
Rennes won at La Rochelle. You won in Rennes so you will beat La Rochelle?
It is not so logical the basket! Be wary of an injured animal. La Rochelle is 2 defeats but has very big ambitions. They have a great team. We are not going to take them lightly. We know that it will be a close match like all the matches against La Rochelle besides.
Do you know the leaders you will face?
Yes they are very good players. I have known Arnaud Thinon for a very long time and Antoine Dudit by name. I even think I played against him when he was younger in Challans. They are two very good leaders focused on the 3-point shoot. We will have to remain vigilant.
Last year the group lived well together. This year seen from the outside, with few new players to integrate, we have the same impression. Is this also true from the inside?
Yes completely. The new ones have integrated really well. They immediately fit into the mold. They are very talented players but also very good at life outside the squad.
