Toulouse. Chess: regional youth championship in Occitanie
This regional competition brought together more than 120 players. The champions and vice-champions in each category are qualified for the French championships.
Finally a “real” chess competition for young people, in front of the game and against an opponent, in a championship canceled and reported twice since last March. This happened at the beginning of autumn at Balma in a large ballroom for the players. Admittedly the mask was obligatory and the young people respected this constraint perfectly. The other difficulty was to chain the parties to comply with the imposed schedules. The impeccable organization of the Lardenne club and the refereeing team allowed this performance and everything happened in the best conditions of reflection and concentration.
The awards ceremony took place in the presence of Monique Fallières, regional councilor, and Anne Massol, deputy mayor of Balma. The organizers were able to thank the Occitanie Regional Council for the support it provides to the training and development of the best young people via the hope pole and the excellence pole. In return, the Club de Lardenne was assured of the attention the Region pays to the development of chess in Occitania.
This competition, which brought together more than 120 players, designated the champions and vice-champions in each category but also regionally qualified for the French championships at the end of October in Agen.
The list of qualified in the order of the classification, the first of each list being Champion or Champion of Occitanie-Ouest 2 021.
