Covid-19. Portugal with a vaccination rate “around 85%”

Portugal reached a vaccination rate against Covid-19 “in the order of 85%”, said this Friday the Director-General of Health. The third dose advances next week for people over 65, advances Graça Freitas.
In a press conference, Graça Freitas emphasizes that, over time, those guaranteed by the vaccine are declining.
In this sense, Graça Freitas explains that this is why an additional dose is already being administered to immunodepressed patients and that the third dose will advance next week for people over 65 years of age.
“We are going to start the third dose or the booster dose for people aged 65 and over, with priority for people over 80 and users of homes and continued care network,” said the Director-General of Health.
Graça Freitas hopes that, soon, the World Health Organization (WHO) will give the green light to the simultaneous taking of vaccines for a seasonal flu and for a Covid.
Vaccination against seasonal flu began Sept. 27 in nursing homes. So far, around 130 thousand people have been vaccinated, 63 thousand aged 80 or over.
Portugal has guaranteed three million vaccines for a seasonal flu, but “these vaccines are intended for the people who are the most earlier, not for the 10 million”, says Graça Freitas.
