Designblok starts in Prague today, people have to reserve entry to it
Prague – In Prague, exhibition spaces have been opened for visitors today, in which the 23rd year of the Designblok show takes place. The main program takes place in the duty of the former monastery of St. Gabriela in the vicinity of the Kinský Garden in Smíchov, which is called Gabriel Loci, and in the Museum of Applied Arts. Designblok has over 200 Czech and foreign participants and visitors, which they can come to only after prior reservation of a half-day time interval. The theme of this year’s show is Happiness.
Until October 10, visitors can choose or visit all places. During the Renaissance, crafts can go to the Museum of Applied Arts, to designers, companies and school installations in the Gabriel Loci area. In the nearby church Coeur will see fashion shows of art school students. In addition to details of installations and stands with fashion, jewelry, home accessories and furniture, there are also lectures and workshops in the heart of Designblok. This is traditionally a space called Design, which we always prepare by a creator. This year, the duo Herrmann & Coufal transformed it into a Do It Yourself workshop.
Stay in the cloister around the former paradise gardens. Those interested can sit there or embark on the production of Tension lamps during the workshops, for which the creators of the duo won the Czech Grand Design 2020 award. Herrmann & Coufal will teach visitors how to make a lamp themselves – according to this experience true happiness.
Last year, Designblok mainly reduced measures against the spread of coronavirus, and to a lesser extent this year as well. The capacity of the interior will be monitored throughout the Designblok and a visit to the festival is possible only after booking a time slot, either in the morning or in the afternoon. In addition to tickets, a condition for entering the interior is a respirator and also a certificate of completed vaccination against covid-19, a valid antigenic or PCR test or a certificate of illness.
