Inaugurated in December 2019, the mutualist medical center is managed by the Oxance group. On strike, the staff asking for more resources, in particular the hiring of secretaries and dental assistants.
A “fed up”. This is the feeling of the secretaries and doctors who have been working for almost two years in the new mutualist center of Chemin-Bas-d’Avignon in Nîmes. This Tuesday, October 5 marks the call for a strike by several unions. A call answered by the employees of the medical center: ” We are only six secretaries for seven general practitioners and 19 specialists. It is insufficient ! », Warns Sabrina Brunel, employee representative.
Secretaries who are often overwhelmed: ” We do not always manage to answer the phone … Sometimes the patients are overwhelmed, we understand them. We find ourselves doing the security guards at the reception because they come directly, not being able to make an appointment remotely. “Upstairs, the four dentists share a single assistant:” VSSome are fed up with it, this lack of resources has consequences for patient care “.
Consequence of this lack of means: the departure of dentist Bernard Flamand after more than 13 years of practice in the district: “ The team and the patients are formidable, but since Oxance bought us, the salary policy has been disastrous. Our new management does not want to pay the assistants their fair value “. Another doctor even confides: ” THEThe conditions of care are deteriorating so much that it sometimes feels like the emergency room of the Nîmes hospital “.
