The 6 news of the week: successful debuts for Monaco and ASVEL in the Euroleague, the two biggest budgets in the history of the French championship

Euroleague: Monaco and ASVEL well launched
For its big first in the Euroleague, AS Monaco outclassed Panathinaikos to Gaston-Médecin. Star Mike James got his campaign off to a good start. Another French club in C1, ASVEL dominated Zalgiris Kaunas thanks in particular to the perfect performance of Elie Okobo. Another successful first, that of Real Madrid and its four French against the reigning European champion, Anadolu Efes.
Betclic Elite: Lyon-Villeurbanne and Nanterre win the buzzer, Cholet surprises Strasbourg
At the end of the first day, ASVEL won the first success of its season in the championship against Gravelines thanks to the 3-point shot, buzzer, of Chris Jones. The day before, Nanterre won against Limoges thanks to a final feat from Nick Johnson and Cholet went to surprise Strasbourg at Rhénus thanks to a double-double from Yoan Makoundou. At the opening, Champagne Basket corrected the promoted Fos Provence with in particular a fantastic basket from Scottie Reynolds.
Betclic Elite / Pro B: record budgets!
The National Basketball League has published the budgets of the Betclic Elite and Pro B clubs. With respectively 15.1 million euros and 14.1 million euros for the current season, ASVEL and Monaco must both the threshold of the biggest budget in the history of the French championship. After a 2020-2021 season heavily impacted by the health crisis, the average budgets of the two divisions even include the record amounts for the 2019-2020 season. Focus on the Limoges CSP budget.
What returns on the first year of LNB TV? Michel Mimran confides
The general manager of the National Basketball League (LNB) is maneuvering on LNB TV, the league’s OTT (internet) platform which broadcasts all Betclic Elite and Pro B matches, unencrypted, commented and free. To pay Europe basket, Michel Mimran returned to the contours of the digital turn taken by the French professional basket, which came out completely paying off. Women’s League: Bourges and ASVEL entry surprises
The Women’s League started with the setbacks of the two favorites at home, Bourges and Lyon. Opening Friday, La Roche Vendée dominated Tango at Prado before Landerneau surprised ASVEL at Mado-Bonnet. Another performance, individual this time, that of Olivia Epoupa with Lattes-Montpellier (29 evaluation) against Villeuneuve d’Ascq (60-51).
Transfers: Isaïa Cordinier at Virtus Bologna, Alex Chassang back in France, in Bourg
After trying in vain to win a place at the Brooklyn Nets this summer, the French international Isaïa Cordinier signed with the reigning Italian champion, Virtus Bologna. He will team up with another tricolor, Mam Jaiteh. In the French championship, two signatures should be noted: that of Alexandre Chassang in Bourg and that of Abdoulaye Ndoye in Gravelines. Three medical replacements have also arrived: Taylor Rochestie in Le Mans, Nobel Boungou-Colo in Boulogne-Levallois and Toni Katic in Dijon.
