Spintermar hosts Pontedera for Cmc’s delicate transfer to Siena
CARRARA. Time to return to the field for Cmc and Spintermar, who will resume the C Silver regional basketball championship today. The two Carrarese teams will participate in a single group, including 14 other teams: Costone Siena, Pontedera, Fucecchio, Liburnia Livorno, Montale, Viareggio, Us Livorno, Laurenziana Firenze, Valdera, Capannoli, Altopascio, Empoli, Campi Bisenzio, Mens Sana Siena and Basket Livorno. Valdera Capannoli, Cmc and Viareggio have been rescued from the D series, as they were relegated last year, following the decision not to participate in the C Silver championship. The calendar includes 30 matches (15 home matches and as many return matches). The first phase will end on April 24, then there will be the playoffs or play outs. The first ranked team will automatically advance, while the last one will be relegated directly. On the first day, Sintermar will host the Pontedera at the Palavenza. Cmc, on the other hand, will make their away debut against Mens Sana Siena. Both matches will begin at 6 pm. The derbissimi between the two Carrarese teams will be held on 12 December (at Spintermar’s home) and 27 March (at Cmc’s). The Spintermar of ds Massimo Alibani has reconfirmed coach Andrea Cristelli, who boasts a long past in teams from the eastern Liguria and in Spintermar itself. Among the players, the wings Francesco Tealdi (born in 1996), Andrea Riccardi (2001) and Davide Mezzani (2002) have been confirmed. The squad also included guard Davide Leporati (1999), who returns to Spintermar after two years in C Gold at Tarros La Spezia. A new signing, however, is the skilled Lithuanian playmaker Augustas Suliauskas (1995), a native of Vilnius and already active at Tarros in the last three seasons, where he missed the promotion to B. Before arriving in Italy. Suliauskas started playing in Lithuania’s Serie A2 when he was 4, joining Lithuania’s Under 18 team in 2013. Spintermar’s goal is to build a competitive team, capable of playing a good championship.
