I will run passenger trains between Ukraine and Poland after more than a year, RegioJet can start the Prague – Lviv line
RegioJet trains will run to the Polish-Ukrainian border via Krakow.
Rail passenger transport between Poland and Ukraine is waiting for a restart of operations after more than a year. The Polish and Ukrainian authorities have agreed to allow trains to operate a month after the road crossings are long open.
Ukrainian state railways announced this on their website. From October 10, the direct connection from Kiev to Przemyśl will return. Previously, traffic was resumed from Ukraine on the tracks in Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova.
The opening of the railway borders also means good news for RegioJet, which last year received a permit to operate a new line from Prague to Lviv. RegioJet does not want to state when the trains will start directly. “We will launch the final phase of preparation and coordination with the Ukrainian side so that we can start operations as soon as possible,“RegioJet spokesman Aleš Ondrůj said.
The train route will lead through Krakow and Przemyśl. The train will go to Przemyśl, RegioJet will have a final guaranteed transfer of a Ukrainian partner carrier to Lviv. The train will run overnight, in the Czech Republic it will stop at all stations, as RegioJet connections from Prague to the Ostrava region stop so far. In Poland, he will stop in Krakow and Przemyśl. RegioJet will deploy both its chaise longues and regular cars with seats on the route. Unlike seasonal routes to Croatia, the RegioJet locomotive should pull the train all the way.
