In Rouen (Seine-Maritime), an institution is no longer, but the place has found a successor: the old Augy earthenware factory, rue Saint-Romain, closed its doors at the beginning of the year (for a well-deserved retirement), the Rollon bookstore takes its place.
Passion for books
Rollon is a second-hand book store opened in 2018, rue de la Croix-de-Fer, by two childhood friends, Julien Fleuret and Nicolas Lemaitre. For the two book enthusiasts, this opening then a professional reconversion, the quarantine passed. “We share this passion for books, to go shit at second-hand booksellers,” explain the two friends who have become partners. Over time, we have each built up a large collection, Nicolas on the side of human sciences, history, politics etc. and Julien from comics, science fiction and the fantasy genre. “
Cramped in their premises on rue Croix-de-Fer, they seized the opportunity to close the earthenware factory to gain space. Rue Saint-Romain, busy street in the historic and tourist heart of Rouen, the Rollon bookstore will have a larger window – where therefore more books will be put forward -, a reserve (in the former workshop of artisans earthenware makers, which describes the place at Nicolas’ home …) and two rooms for exhibition / presentation of books, on two levels, including a vaulted basement with undeniable cachet.
Currently, Julien Fleuret and Nicolas Lemaître are in the midst of the planning phase of the premises. Opening scheduled for mid-October.
