Following the example of Prague, Krumlov wants to introduce re-approval of flats for short-term rent – ČT24 – Czech Television
Český Krumlov has decided that in the event of confirmation of the correctness of the procedure of the Prague Building Authority, it will proceed similarly. The town hall would call the owners of such flats for re-approval. Český Krumlov officials are ready to prepare for it.
This would affect, for example, Martin Prokeš, who live in one of the historic houses. Part of the property is rented to tourists. “People don’t complain here, it’s a family house, so we don’t solve problems here at all. At the same time, I have set in my apartment that no parties and celebrations may be held there, “he said. Do you think that re-approval would be a problem for a lot of landlords.
The measure must mainly concern apartment buildings
“We are waiting for Prague to turn out so that we can be inspired and proceed in a similar way,” said the deputy mayor of Český Krumlov, Josef Hermann (for KDU-ČSL). According to him, apartments in apartment buildings and residential areas are a priority. Martin Prokeš should not be affected by the measure. “This is private accommodation, which is normally a matter of trade license, it’s okay there,” he added.
Hermann claims that accommodation through similar platforms has a very negative effect on city life. “Visitors to apartment buildings are causing problems. It is also very negative in the issue of doing business in Český Krumlov, when it is really unfair competition. Entrepreneurs have to comply with all regulations, and they (landlords) do not have to, “he said, adding that short-term renting of tourists’ apartments can also offer long-term housing in the city.
Asked how the city would look for such flats, the deputy mayor said that officials could use flats to rent flats so that they could, where and how many such flats were in Krumlov.
Telč, Třebíč, Žďár nad Sázavou
Telč, Třebíč or Žďár nad Sázavou in the Vysočina region are also very popular cities that are on the UNESCO list of monuments. However, local governments have yet to regulate as in Prague and Český Krumlov. For example, in Telč, according to Czech Television editor Daniel Zach, it is mainly about private accommodation, and the local town hall rather welcomes it, because it manages to reach tourists in the city.
“Třebíč or Žďár nad Sázavou are dealing with a rather depopulated center, where it would like to attract more entrepreneurs. The fact that it is depopulating is not attributed to short-term accommodation, but rather to large shopping centers on the periphery, “the editor added.
