The organization installed by Emmanuel Macron on Monday wants to be “the largest and most innovative training platform in global health” according to the World Health Organization. It will open in 2023 but already offers online courses.
The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, the right-hander boss of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, Laurent Wauquiez, and the two environmentalists at the head of the city and the metropolis of Lyon, Grégory Doucet and Bruno Bernard, gathered side by side all smiles for the same cause: the souvenir photo was taken this Monday thanks to international diplomacy and territorial marketing. Calling for the defense of a “Free and open science” and some “Health solidarity strategy that France wants to pursue”, Emmanuel Macron appointed “installed” during a trip between Saône and Rhône the Academy of the World Health Organization (WHO), in the presence of the director general of the powerful agency, the Ethiopian Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and of the former Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn, appointed on August 16 to the post of executive director of this training organization in gestation for years.
Destined to become “The largest and most innovative global health training platform” according to the WHO, this academy targets mid-career professionals, whether they are agency staff or external entities, working in particular in developing countries. The objective: “Improve speed and efficiency with the latest knowledge and health data controlled to practitioners all over the world”, writes the WHO, which estimates that 18 million health workers are missing …
