713 people over the age of 100 live in the Czech Republic. A senior from Prague experienced the First World War

The administration of the most increased pensions was sent to Prague in June. In the capital, they received 110 seniors and 23 seniors over a hundred years old. According to the office, the second region with the highest number of stolen was the South Moravian Region, with 88 women and seven men living after its 100th birthday.
The social administration registers only those seniors with whom it pays a pension. According to published data, it recorded seven hundred century-old men and women as early as 2014. Then the number dropped. Now it is growing again. At the end of last year, it provided 676 increased pensions. According to data from the Czech Statistical Office (CSO) but lived in the Czech Republic at that time for 845 centuries. Five years earlier, according to statistics, there were 733 of them and in 2010 a total of 833.
Behind the decline in numbers are weak years from the First World War. Of which more than 295,600 children were born in the Czech lands in 1910, there were 175,000 fewer in the last year of the war. In 2018, 120,600 boys and girls were born. Then the births approached again. The strongest population year of the 1920s was in 1921. At that time, statisticians recorded 257,300 live births.
According to the CZSO, the Czech Republic had a total of 32,771 people aged 90 and over in 2010, five years later 53,508 and last year 64,899. According to the middle calculations of statisticians, since the beginning of 2030, more than 85,500 people over the age of 90 could live in the country, and there could be around 1,635 centuries. In the middle of the century, a hundred or more years could be 6,280 women and men, over 90 years could have almost 204,700 inhabitants.
Czech society is aging. According to demographers, the number of elderly people will increase in the coming years and decades. Experts point out that not only pension reform but also health and social care will be needed. Without change, the systems would not be financially sustainable and without development, they would not be able to grow the number of people who will need support or treatment.
