28.9. – The updated documentation for the territorial management of the construction of the railway line between Prague and Beroun will be prepared by the company SUDOP Prague. Offer a price of 90.3 million crowns. The originally expected value of the contract was approximately 30 million crowns higher. The winner of the tender was selected by the Railway Administration (SŽ), which informed ČTK about it. The new line will largely lead through a tunnel.
SŽ had to announce the tender repeatedly. Last year, within the year of the original competition at the Office for the Protection of Economic Competition (ÚOHS), SUDOP Praha and the Office banned the conclusion of the contract. SŽ subsequently canceled the competition on the grounds that it wanted to proceed in the award of public contracts in a way that is absolutely transparent. The price of the contract in the original tender was estimated at 160 million crowns.
The double-track line starts at a modified exit from the Prague-Smíchov station. At Barrandov, the tracks sink into a 24.7-kilometer-long tunnel and end in Beroun on a new bridge overpass over the Berounka valley. On the Prague side, there is a turnoff to the Branický Bridge in the direction of Prague-Krč. The new tunnel will be designed for a maximum speed of 200 km / h. Upon completion, the tunnel should reduce the journey time from the Prague-Smíchov railway station to Pilsen to 44 minutes and the journey to Beroun to 12 minutes.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028, to be completed seven years later. The project was to cost 50 billion crowns. Most of the tunnel excavation will be at a depth of about 150 meters below the surface. There are currently 13 longer railway tunnels in the world and a number of periods are being built or being prepared.
