Where to go on a trip in the old summer? These are tips for new places not far from Prague
Konopiště, Karlštejn, Great America místa these places will never come out of the main search engine of all weekend tourists from Prague. But if you want to avoid the main route, within hours of the capital you will find unexplored places where you can go alone or with the whole family.
Wake & Fun Třeboutice
In Třeboutice near Litoměřice, a popular place has grown where the Olympic winner Eva Samková and the richest Czechs go surfing. Instead of the sea, the level of the Elbe is enough for them. This area is called Wake & Fun and it is the only place in the Czech Republic where you can try all water sports at once from water skiing to wakeboarding to jetsurfing, which is a surfboard with a built-in motor, thanks to which you can drive speed over fifty on the water surface. need in an hour. And when you close your eyes, you will feel like by the sea.
Reservation of wild horses, bison and pratur in Milovice
Up into nature. In the former military area of Milovice-Mladá there is a reservation where wild horses, bison and great-old horses graze. The view of them is beautiful. A herd of the first fourteen wild horses came to the reserve in early 2015 from Great Britain. Ten months later, the Dutch Tauros Foundation sent six prairies, five heifers and one bull to Milovice to be released into the wild. Next to it is also Chateau Mcely, where you can have not only lunch, but also wellness and massage. Doesn’t that sound like a perfect day?
Cabinner Tiny House
This cool modern caravan, or rather a house that can be easily hitched behind a car. But if you just want to sleep in it, right next to the Vltava stands on a small piece of meadow a short distance from the capital, where there is perfect peace. Great place if you want to take a detox from civilization, run around the river and enjoy a clean and practical interior design.
Restaurant Zas a Znova
The owners chose the name aptly. You will simply be happy to return to the Zas a Znova restaurant. It is located just outside Prague in the village of Sulice-Hlubočinka and has been opened by two well-known names of Czech gastronomy. The kitchen is supervised by the leading chef Petr Hajný and the operation of the entire company is led by an experienced restaurant manager Karel Šimůnek, who was previously in charge of, among others, AvantGarde belonging to the PPF group. They will serve you excellent and quality Czech cuisine with modern spin.
Voděradské beech forests
So. You just had a great lunch in Zas and Znova and what’s next? Only about thirty times from the restaurant lies the national nature reserve Voděradské bučiny, one of the largest beech forest complexes in Central Bohemia. While walking, you can stop at the Jevanský stream.
Rückl Glassworks, Nižbor
If you have cut Rückl glasses by Rony Plesl at home, it’s almost a must. This family glassworks right next to the station has been synonymous with first-class cut crystal since 1846. In 1903, Antonín Rückl decided to build it on a green meadow in Nižbor, where you will learn about traditional techniques and stages of glass production. In the Nižbor glassworks, all the innovations are created under the hands of talented glassmakers and grinders, and in addition to Plesl, designers Lukáš Novák, Kristýna Venturová and Marine Julié also take part in the production.
Kytín Brewery
They have their own ten on the pin, a semi-dark eleven, a light twelve, and a top-fermented ale or a floral IPA. But it’s not just beer lovers who go to Kytín. You can also care about coffee (they have their own mixture) and of course the menu. It is proud that we offer honest Czech cuisine, substitutes have no place here. Swimming pool and restaurant Jureček
It’s probably not for swimming this year, but it doesn’t matter. At the water area, where Oldřich Nový also enjoyed sunbathing, you can have a picnic, play volleyball or tennis. To the complex in addition, you can comfortably reach the center of Prague by bike.
Medieval Mělník, a city of wine and history
The medieval city, barely half an hour from Prague, offers children and adults an enjoyment during the old summer. It would be a shame to forget him. Today, the seat of the old aristocratic family of princes from Lobkowicz offers not only regular tours of the castle interiors, the castle wine shop and the local church of St. Peter and Paul, as well as a number of accompanying events, traditional seasonal markets and vintages.
If you look at the landscape from the local views on the castle terrace, from the vineyards of St. Ludmila, who was born here in Mělník in the 9th century, not only sees the magnificent confluence of the Vltava and the Elbe, but you can see as far as Říp. And under the bushy trees, surrounded by autumn colors, you may even get your glass of local wine. It is famous among the locals U Holečků wine shop in the historical center of Mělník. For those arriving by car, we recommend the Bettina Lobkowicz winery on the southern and western banks of the Elbe.
Cat Viaduct
If you want to see a truly technical uniqueness, go and see the Žampaš Bridge under Jílový. It is sometimes called the Cat Viaduct. It is unique mainly for its height. It is the same as the tallest stone railway bridge in Central Europe. Just to give you an idea, it is only one meter lower than the Nuselský Bridge in Prague. The total length of the bridge is less than 110 meters. Of course, you can also take a train on the bridge, but the most photogenic is when you stand under it.
Zdenka Braunerová’s studio
Instead of historical paths through castles and chateaux, visit the studio of the Czech painter Zdenka Braunerová. She was a very extravagant figure at the end of the 19th century, not only did she have a lot of famous lovers, she even liked to ride a bike (a thing not appropriate for a lady at that time) and sometimes she also liked to go to a local pub. Her studio, which Braunerová designed and built herself in 1903–1904, is inspired by English country houses and stands near the Vltava River in the garden of a former mill, which served the Brauner family as a summer villa.
Inn Fara and its herb garden
We learned a long time ago that the best way to do a trip is to work around a good restaurant. This also has added value – in addition to good food, it also offers a walk through the beautiful herb garden. You can also spend the night in the inn and the next day go on a tour of several castles in the area.
Budeč rotunda
If you enjoy history, come and see the rotunda of St. Peter and Paul. With a date of construction around 895, it is the oldest preserved architectural structure in our country, so it is more than 1115 years old. By the way, legend has it that in Budča he also learned his own St. Vaclav.
