the Rouen Normandy Rugby won his first away win of the season in Pro D2 with Provence Rugby 22-21, Friday September 24. A small point of difference which is enough for the happiness of the players of Rouen (Seine-Maritime) realistic and united. The Rouennais led 13-3 at halftime. The American international Psalm Wooching for the RNR scored in force the only try of the first act. Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) for his part wasted, on forward, two great opportunities to score. Peter Lydon, very inspired at the foot, slammed a fall of 40 meters at 40 ′ before passing a penalty of more than 55 in the 73 ′.
The heart of Rouen in the second half
This penalty did the RNR good as long as Nicolas Godignon’s players were put under pressure by Provence Rugby in the second half. Rouen has always been able to resist with a lot of heart the fury of the locals, but clumsy. The Lions could have lost everything in the dying seconds of the game. At 14 against 15 following the yellow card for anti-play gesture of Peter Lydon, the RNR cashed a test at the end of the line from Massip. Provence Rugby became then to a small point of the Normans. Massip missed the transformation thus offering victory to his opponents. The Rouennais heave a looseness and congratulate themselves.
With this success, Rouen erased the defeat against Colomiers in Diochon and climbed to 7th place in the provisional standings with 12 points. The RNR will host Grenoble on Thursday, October 7 to try to confirm this fine performance.
