At a glance: The tracks speak of the greatest revolution since the deployment of Railjets. They will put 9 billion trains into operation
The southern expressways Vltava and Lužnice will now offer, for example, Wi-Fi, electrical outlets and a children’s cinema.
Czech Railways has calculated that it will deploy new trains worth a total of nine billion crowns next year. “With the 2022 timetable, the biggest revolution in quality, comfort and the range of services on offer since the deployment of Railjets seven years ago awaits us.” said the head of ČD Ivan Bednárik. A large part of the new vehicles will be put into operation as soon as the new schedule arrives in December, others will not be released until later.
For example, the railways will deploy InterJet sets from the Siemens / Škoda consortium on the Western Express and Ore Mountains trains from Prague to Cheb (via Pilsen and via Chomutov). Škoda multi-storey push-pull sets will run on regional connections from Ostrava to Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, two dozen new RegioPanters will serve regional lines in the Plzeň, Central Bohemia and South Bohemia regions, older wagons (so-called leatherettes) of air-conditioned cars from EC / category trains will be replaced in express trains. IC.
Recorded passengers have a qualitative jump, especially in the Vltava and Lužnice expressways from Prague via Tábor to České Budějovice and České Velenice, and in the Vysočina expressways from Prague via Havlíčkův Brod to Brno. “We will park most of the ‘leatherette’ there and replace it with modern wagons. We will then add individual comfort cars to the Hradečan and Krakonoš express trains from Prague to Hradec Králové and Trutnov and to the Bouzov express trains from Brno to Olomouc and Šumperk. ” added Jiří Ješeta, a member of the ČD Board of Directors.
The new RegioPantery will focus, for example, on the P2 process from Klatovy via Plzeň and Rokycany to Beroun and on regional lines in the South Bohemian Region. “Thanks to this, we will take out dozens of large-scale cars from the turn of the 80’s and 90’s out of daily operation,” says Yeshete. The new units replace, for example, Bdtmee cars from the former German Democratic Republic nicknamed Honecker and Bdt, Bdtee and BDs cars.
During the 2022 timetable, Czech Railways will also put into operation other modernized vehicles, for example in the Olomouc Region these are Stadler GTW engine units. Other sets will include extended services, for example in motor sets in the Hradec Králové Region.
