After renting a vehicle from a private individual via the Snapchat application, a man makes an appointment with the owner of the car in the town of Ancilevienne to return it to him. However, the lessor, noting that the car is badly damaged, claims the sum of 10,000 euros. The discussion is lively and at the end of this meeting, the owner forces the customer to get into the back of the vehicle and leaves with him.
Quickly alerted to this affair, the gendarmes of Annecy-le-Vieux, supported by their colleagues from Psig de Seynod and the Annecy search brigade, hired an important device to locate the car. She will finally be found in Chambéry, as well as her shocked passenger. The victim is then taken care of by the Chambéry gendarmes who at the same time launch an operation to find the driver.
The author of the facts, quickly identified and being sought, will present himself, the same day, in the early evening, at the gendarmerie of Challes-les-Eaux. Tried by immediate comparison on September 20 in Annecy for arrest, kidnapping and forcible confinement, he was sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment, 12 of which were suspended.
